C ouch Crumbs was recently nominated for the Liebster Award!
I am so honored to be one of the few chosen by Melissa Gendreau at Humble Faith Family Wellness for the Liebster Award! She is a Christian mental health therapist, not only making it her mission to provide healing to families in her practice, but also to bring healing to the online community.
I really enjoy learning ways to improve as a mother, wife, and follower of Christ through her blog. I am also honored that we both began our blogging endeavors around the same time, sharing in this new experience that God has called us to!
The Liebster Award nomination is given by bloggers to bloggers, bringing exposure and discovery to new online writers. And with a nomination, all nominees are to answer a few questions to help readers get to know him or her better.
What inspired you to start blogging?
Last year, I walked away from a thirteen-year career in the military. I felt like God was calling me to learn more about Him in Scripture, so I spent the next eight months studying and waiting.
Eventually, He placed Christian blogging in my heart. So I spent the next six months preparing for my new endeavor and then finally launched at the end of August, 2017.
For almost two months, I have watched with amazement how God has helped me steadily grow in online ministry. He has provided me with great mentors, supportive peers, and an increasing following that keeps me motivated and excited for more!
When you have a writer’s block, what do you do to work it out?
By the grace of God, I haven’t experienced a writer’s block yet! He keeps providing the teachings and words as I continue to be led by Him.
Somedays, however, I do have difficulty proofreading and bringing my post together right before publishing. I experience a little doubt and a little discouragement brought on by my obsessive-compulsive personality and perfectionism.
During these times, I step away from what I’m doing and spend some time with God through reading or prayer. I find that focusing on Him helps to keep me in perspective and to just follow!
What advice would you give other bloggers?
Always keep God first! Your content may not be about your spiritual journey, but even if you are providing recipes, crafts, or advice, He should always be first.
Second, find support through social media communities. I have found some amazing peers and mentors that have helped me stay motivated through answering questions, reading and commenting on content, and praising my work!
Last, learn to enjoy the process of growth. It’s hard not to play the comparison game, especially if you are growing at a much slower rate than other bloggers, but praise yourself for even the smallest milestones achieved and keep eagerly anticipating God’s abundance for your endurance!
