In the military, every person is responsible for their own proficiency.
Of course, there are supervisors to facilitate training, but each soldier is ultimately responsible for his or her mental and physical qualifications and proficiencies. The same can be said for Christians.
We are spiritual soldiers, in desperate need for continual upkeep. This requires much more than physical and mental self-care, but also spiritual care.
To do this effectively, we must consistently train. Just as one exercises, eats well, gets adequate rest and hydration in order to operate at their best, one’s relationship with Christ is the ultimate decider in a life well-spent.
So how does one begin to become proficient in their walk of faith? Well, I could share with you a variety of methods to strengthen your spiritual fortitude, but I’m going to refrain from doing so.
For one, I don’t want to overwhelm you if you happen to be new in your walk with Christ. And I also don’t want to overburden longtime Christians with ‘one more best kept secret to being a better Christian’.
Because there is no best kept secret! God is the answer to all things, and He makes it plain as day what He wants us to do in our lives.
And one of those things He asks of us is to use Scripture to fight our battles. That’s right, Scripture!
There’s no better battle plan than strengthening yourself through God’s perfect and true Word. It not only keeps us in close relationship with God, but it also keeps us primed and ready to do His work.
What do I mean by primed and ready? When we repeatedly pray using God’s Word, we are building an internal arsenal where God can pull from it at anytime in order to guide, encourage, minister, and release His power to us and to others.
We become well-trained soldiers in Christ. Essentially, spiritual powerhouses for the Holy Spirit to recall the appropriate truth at the right time and place for mass effectiveness not only in our own lives, but also in those we come in contact with.
So, as a foundation for this proficiency, we need to start by using Scripture where the enemy attacks the most: finances, relationships, fears, and contentment. Join me in the coming weeks to receive four free Scripture Battle Plan Manuals that will address these areas, helping to strengthen your walk with Christ (Click Here for the first Battle Plan!).
And be amazed at the transformation that takes place. Because God is able to do more than we could ever ask or expect when He is allowed to work through us (Ephesians 3:20)!
