Jesus understands suffering fully.
He was an outsider since birth. Created from the Holy Spirit and placed in a virgin teenager, He was given a rough start to begin life during that time and place.
And so were His parents, Mary and Joseph. Mary, who conceived Him outside of wedlock, could have been stoned to death. Joseph, who was engaged to Mary prior to her conception, had to live with the shameful news of his bride’s scandalous condition.
So Jesus not only began life with hardship, but He witnessed it among the treatment of His parents… and it didn’t end there! Fast forward many years, and He was tempted by Satan in the wilderness after fasting for forty days.
Then Jesus starts His ministry and deals with corrupt Pharisees and Sadduccees, the betrayal of friends, and eventually a gruesome death on the cross. And though we may think He had every right to be miserable, depressed, and hopeless, Jesus wasn’t.
He leaned on God the Father for help, praying and allowing His power to heal several people, and lead many more to salvation centuries after His death! So even if you or someone you love is suffering immensely, reflect on Jesus and what He did in spite of His own hard circumstances!
